The North American company Skyhook Wireless has developed a new software that allows to geolocalise a PC bearing in mind the wi-fi hotspots surrounding it. The programme, Loki, works in the functions bar of the navigator and offers a wide range of commercial services depending on the location of the laptop at certain moment. This software uses a new technology known as WPS (Wifi Positioning System) that triangulates positions taking wi-fi hotspots as a reference. At the moment, it has only been launched in the main 100 cities of the USA, but there is a plan to take it to Europe by the end of this year.
