I’ve learned from BlogTelecom that there is a new organization (it isn’t a company) which is installing wimax aerials in Spanish cities. It is called stbnet and it is installing hotspots in Alicante. It aims at offering both broadband Internet access and IP phone services. The domain is under Stephan Bergmann’s name, who, according to Google, is also linked to OWS (Orange Web Services), an Internet supplier in Crevillent (Alicante).

Vodafone announced today the commercial launch of its Mobile Broadband offering, supported by Ericsson’s HSDPA solution. HSDPA will be available first in the German cities Hannover, Frankfurt, Düsseldorf and Munich and eventually throughout the entire WCDMA network, which today covers more than 70 percent of the population. Vodafone will promote HSDPA as “UMTS Broadband” to their German customers.

Free, France’s second Internet supplier, has announced that it will offer Internet connection through wimax.It is an iterating service,that works in different points of the French geography. This is all the information that we have yet. Free belongs to Iliad, which was recently bought by Altitude Telecom. This operator has licenses to offer connections via wimax in France.

This is an interesting article published in the New York Times that deals with the problems suffered by those who leave wi-fi unprotected. It seems that more and more people take advantage of this situation to “steal”broadband. This practise has already been baptized: it is called ‘piggybacking’.

Soon it will be everywhere and, thanks to it, the ‘big brother’ will keep his eye on us all.A goog example are Scottsdale(Arizona) school students: in no time their school buses will be equipped with CCTV cameras connected via wi-fi; they will make thesurveillance inside the buses possible.
