Even Varsavsky is talking about it. The new Nokia 6136 can connect to mobile phone and wi-fi networks. Some people, The Register for instance, consider this device the “end of Skype”, since it will allow users to use VoIP without depending on a computer.
It seems to use a new technology called UMA, that allows any operator to offer its services through any wi-fi network. This means that Nokia will only allow to make phone calls with those operators that have previously signed an agreement with the firm. One of the first operators has been Orange (France Télécom). The phone won’t be ready till late spring.
