Following the example of Philadelphia and San Francisco, Chicago City Council is planning to create a wi-fi infrastructure in the whole city. The councils are looking for a new way to offer Internet access to the community, fighting the competence of the ADSL and cable sector, which isn’t very liberalized.Apart from Philadelphia and San Francisco, there are some other North American cities that want to have their own wi-fi network: Portland, Anaheim, Pasadena, Long Beach, Denver, Aurora, Minneapolis, Milwaukee, Grand Rapids, Pittsburgh, Arlington and Brookline.
