This will be the year of the broadband thanks to wi-fi and wimax. That is what Iber-X, the Spanish communications stock market, claims in its yearly report. It also compares ADSL with cable, to conclude that 79% of broadband connections use ADSL.The report describes wimax as wi-fi’s “big brother” and assures that these wireless technologies will star a real revolution among businesses. It measures the reality of these connections in a potential 9 million wi-fi users, as soon as they had a computer, a PDA or a mobile phone with the corresponding chip. Apart from this, the majority of new broadband lines are equipped with wireless routers; this hint allows us to guess that 2006 will reach 8,5 million wi-fi users.
